The upcoming exhibition at Mercantile Coffee House is The Sum of its Parts by Jerry Skibell. Skibell was raised in Lubbock, Texas. Skibell received his BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968 and continued for a year in graduate school, majoring in graphic design. Skibell has exhibited in numerous galleries in Texas and New Mexico. Recently, Skibell was selected to participate in the “New Texas Talent Show, XVIII” at Craighead Green Gallery and ModernDallas.net’s show at ILUME Gallerie in Dallas, Texas. Skibell incorporates a wide range of materials and collage elements in his work as well as a relatively new process called “Solar plate Etching.” The Sum of its Parts incorporates fragmentations of events or accomplishments in Skibell’s life as an artist, inventor, and real estate developer.
The opening reception will be on December 8 from 6:30-7:30pm. Jerry Skibell: The Sum of its Parts will be on view at Mercantile Coffee House through January 14.
