Weatherproof, 21st Annual Membership Show & Aurora Wrap Party

This event is for MAC Members and their guests and Aurora Wrap Party guests. To join us please become a member here: http://the-mac.org/join/membership/

On Saturday, October 17 from 3 p.m. to Midnight, The MAC will host its 21st Annual Membership Show, Weatherproof. This inaugural exhibition at The MAC’s new home in the Cedars calls on members to create artworks to be displayed in an outdoor space. This event will collaborate for the first time with Aurora, presented by AT&T Performing Arts Center. Aurora founders Shane Pennington and Joshua King will select a collection of works by Texas-based artists to be featured alongside those created by The MAC members, including installations by Angel Cabrales, Jeff Gibbons and Gregory Ruppe, Letitia Huckaby, and Jeremy McKane. Together The MAC and Aurora will present a unique interactive exhibition and live music.

Weatherproof kicks off at 3:30 with a lecture by The MAC’s architect Dan Shipley. Dan will give insights into his own practice as well as his plans for the new compound in the Cedars. There will be live performances by Dallas’ own Jamal Mohamed Big Band with special guest Alia and Austin’s Warren Hood Band. Food trucks will dish out refreshments throughout the evening.

For the first time, an invitation to attend the Annual Membership Show will be limited to members and their guests and Aurora Wrap Party guests. The Annual Membership Show is one of the cornerstones of the spirit and mission of The MAC, celebrating emerging and established artistic talent in Dallas and surrounding areas. The MAC is pleased to collaborate with Aurora on this exhibition and to extend the footprint of the high-profile event. Weatherproof will be displayed Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 23 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Aurora is a large-scale, immersive public art event held every two years, featuring artworks using light, video, sound, and performance across 68-acres of The Dallas Arts District. Friday, October 16 will be its fourth edition, and will include works from more than 76 local and international artists.
